As Portfolio Servers API is read only can anyone provide an recommendations for updating its database.

  • Should/can I use System Sprocs
  • Should/can I write my own
  • Some othe method

Any feedback would be appriciated as I have only just started looking at Portfolio Server

Andrew,

Project Portfolio Server (PPS) 2007 has something called Project Gateway that pulls over Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 custom field data. This will provide the data flow from MOPS to PPS. To flow data the other way, you have to use EPMSync. Just a word of caution ... don't define the same attributes in both integration pieces as then you'll get a never-ending flow of those attribute values back and forth. Decide what data will be owned by PPS and define those in EPMSync (however for true permanent ownership by PPS you'll have to use something like the EPMSyncBatch I wrote or write your own). For MOPS-owned fields, define those in Project Gateway.
